Aduro Communications
In 2024, 45% of our work experiences became our interns, equal to five young people; this was up from 30% in 2023. Many are referred from organisations we’ve built strong ties with such as People Like Us, the Taylor Bennett Foundation, and Brixton Finishing School. Uni alumni networks, and friends and family networks, also contribute. This pathway is core to our HR strategy as we search for the next generation of PR and Social Media innovators. It provides a constant pipeline of emerging talent, with a whole range of life experiences and perspectives. In 2024, 42% of interns were from ethnic backgrounds and 60% were female. We never drag out an internship to get a cheaper employee. These are time-limited to two months and paid at £23k pa. Over the past two years, three interns went on to become full-time Aduro employees. A fourth has a full-time role starting in 2025. Ben Bucknill, a 2018 Aduro intern is now our Senior Account Director, leading PR and Social for our clients. He says: “Six years on, I am still being encouraged to be the best I can be at the same agency where I initially got excited about my future career in this industry.” Our summer 2024 intern Owen Wright adds: “I am beyond grateful for this experience, which really developed my skills for a career in PR.”
