Kalay is a multi-award winning media professional and communicator, with more than twenty years of experience, having a unique blend of expertise across senior media editorial roles, corporate marketing and communications as well as PR agency leadership. Kalay's foundations in global journalism has seen her work for news channels like 702, the SABC and ENCA, Kalay was Africa correspondent for global networks Al-Jazeera and Sky News. Kalay currently serves as a member at large for within the PR and Advocacy Committee which is part of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) and is a Juror for the Sabre EMEA Awards. In the corporate communications space (across both the public and private sectors) Kalay was most recently head of marketing and communications for Africa & the Middle East, at global engineering consultancy Aurecon. She has also in the past been head of communications for Brand South Africa (and agency of the Presidency), where she worked on Brand SA campaigns for the World Economic Forum in Davos, WEF Africa and the 2010 FIFA World Cup, which included the highly successful Football Friday campaign. Kalay has provided strategic counsel to clients across various sectors including FMCG, agri-tech, financial services, e-commerce, technology, global management consultancies, professional services, healthcare, international NGOs, SOEs and government departments, including the Department of Arts and Culture. Her storytelling abilities enable her to deliver uniquely on all aspects of corporate communications including marketing & communications strategy, reputation management, digital marketing, branding, content creation, podcasting, media relations, stakeholder engagement, thought leadership and issues & crisis management.
