Blurred

Having implemented a comprehensive strategy prioritising individual needs and mental health within its workplace culture, Blurred offers a range of support mechanisms for staff, including fortnightly coaching, monthly line-manager check-ins, resilience training and access to Mental Health First Aiders. Additionally, employees benefit from an £80 monthly health and wellbeing allowance and the flexibility to swap days off on public holidays for personally significant dates. Blurred’s approach extends to activities that foster group cohesion beyond traditional social gatherings, while there is even a ‘treadmill desk’ in the office to promote physical health alongside mental wellbeing.

The agency ensures a personalised employee experience from the outset by asking new staff to declare their ‘five personal needs’ – for example, needing to leave early to do the school run. What’s more, everyone sets their own daily working hours, with two office-based days a week. Blurred’s policies are also inclusive, addressing diverse needs relating to neurodiversity and other conditions, ensuring all team members feel supported and valued.  And all of this is enshrined in ‘The Deal’, which asks everyone to “Bring their best self to work, knowing they are supported and seen.”

The judges were impressed by the high approval ratings in team surveys, underscoring Blurred’s success in creating a supportive and inclusive workplace; for example, 94 per cent of staff agreed to “having a good work/life balance”, and 100 per cent agreed or strongly agreed that “I feel Blurred cares about my mental wellbeing”.

Judges comment: “Flexible working policy on setting your own daily working hours is really innovative.”
