Riot Communications

Riot is a values-driven agency specialising in arts, culture and entertainment. Our particular passion for EDI is driven in no small part by our belief that culture should be accessible to all, and we can play our part in making that happen by ensuring our team is diverse and our work inclusive. EDI is integral in all we do, from recruitment to staff retention, from company culture to the development of our creative ideas, our approach to new business and the clients we work with.

We have twice been awarded The Blueprint diversity mark, the highest industry standard, and pride ourselves on being both the smallest business and the only agency specialising in arts, culture and entertainment to have achieved this. We rigorously follow The Blueprint’s 23 commitments and, following our Blueprint training earlier this year, we set ourselves ten focus areas which include: conducting a comprehensive audit of our suppliers; updating our media lists to ensure they are diverse; running sessions with external speakers that speak to cultural knowledge gaps; introducing line management training with a focus on EDI to support staff from different backgrounds; and publishing our diversity data. To integrate diversity into our company culture, Riot actively encourages discussion around EDI, with a unique activity – our employee-led ‘Riot Roundtable’ series where we discuss the nine Protected Characteristics of the Equality Act 2010 through the lens of culture and entertainment. Despite its small size, Riot is single-minded and holds itself to an impressively high standard in EDI.
